It's wheel love at Herne Hill Velodrome

Shandy gang. This one’s a biggun, hold on to your handlebars. Our shandies are now available from ‘Jan’s Cafe’ at Herne Hill Velodrome. Chapeau.

Down a quiet residential road near Dulwich lies Herne Hill Velodrome. Built in 1891, it’s one of the oldest active cycling tracks in the world and even hosted Olympic track cycling events during the 1948 Olympics. According to The Times, it remains ‘the engine of British cycling’, thanks to a packed calendar of inclusive events welcoming everyone from three-year-old pedal prodigies all the way up to 60-something vélo veterans.

The historic track has even been graced by cycling legends including Sir Chris Hoy & Dame Laura Kenny. One of London’s hidden gems, the Velodrome is an absolute must-visit. Hosting weekly Track Leagues and weekend races, it’s the perfect spot to spend a summer’s evening and tuck into a refreshing shandy.

All that’s left is to take a seat in the stand, enjoy the stunning sunset and watch the riders whizzing round. Perfect.
